We hold Dr. Bender in the highest regard, trust him implicitly and have the utmost respect for everyone at Louisville Veterinary Clinic. We love Dr. Bender's passion, sense of humor, and dedication to the well-being of our pets (and as someone mentioned below, the liver treats are a big hit too!). Dr. Bender runs a general practice, but if you require treatment in a highly specialized field (we needed cardio and neurology) or if your situation could benefit from stat-of-the-art technology, he will refer to you to the top specialists or places in the state for those dedicated needs. We highly recommend Dr. Bender. He is the best and we love him. We have joked many times that the day Dr. Bender retires, will be the day we stop having pets- we just can't imagine trusting our four-legged loved ones to anyone else!
The veterinarian was so kind & gentle. It was evident that he himself has so much love for animals & has their best interest in mind. I recommend this vet to anyone looking for great care & expertise.
Dr. Bender was recommended by our Vet in California when we moved out to Colorado in 1999, and we will always be eternally grateful for that referral. Our sweet and frightened Chance trusted very few outside of our family and even though he was not shy about letting "Dr. B" know that he would rather be somewhere else, he always seemed to know that whatever Dr. Bender was doing to him, it was with kindness and the sincerest intent to help him in some way.
Oh, and I asked Dr. Bender to take a look at my dog's dew claw which has been growing in improperly. He nicked it. It started bleeding. And then said there's nothing that can be done right now, and to keep her out of the dirt for a few days.
When I moved here 10 years ago, I took my cat to a number of different places, but as soon as I met Dr. Bender, I knew my search was over. He has been a wonderful vet. Always very kind and gentle with the animals, and reassuring to me. He is reasonably priced and can almost always do same day appointments. Take your pet to Dr. Bender, you won't regret it!
I love this man. Dr. Bender is the only person I can trust my animals with (3 cats! ). I know entire families that only trust this man, too. He is the most gentle and affectionate vet I have ever met. A great value for the price - so I'm kind of surprised by the complaints about pricing as I've never had an issue with pricing here. I could go on and on about how much I've been taken advantaged of at other places, however.
Called another vet in Boulder and they charge $34.00 grand total. I just moved here and am already financially strapped for cash. To know that I could have saved over $100 is bothersome, at the LEAST. I'll never go here again.
What irks me is the most is that I asked the receptionist how much it would be before my dog entered the office, and she neglected to give honest information. The butt gland releasing procedure has never been necessary for my dog but I knew when they told me $143.00 I had been robbed.
I just went here to get my dog's anal glands expressed. (Lovely.) I was charged $93.00 for the butt cleaning and $50 for the office visit. $143.00 total. Really? Really.
As long as Dr. Bender is practicing veterinary medicine, we will never go anywhere else! You see and feel Dr. Bender's passion and sensitivity in the way he handles his patients and they feel it too. Beyond being kind and compassionate, he puts forth the effort to really get to know you and your furry friends. Dr. Bender counseled us from afar when our dearly loved, and slightly psychotic rescue dog became suddenly very ill - two days into a vacation. We took him to a practice recommended to us in the area (1,200 miles from home), and they recommended we come say our goodbyes. I called Dr. Bender extremely distraught with the news and he asked me many questions about how they came to this conclusion. With his many years of experience, coupled with the fact he had recently seen Chance before we left town, he was not comfortable with the circumstances of the diagnosis we had been given. He kindly offered to speak with the out of state practice to get more information. Later that day he called me back, recommending a different path for us. I went and picked up Chance and took him to the place Dr. Bender recommended. As it turned out, even though he was 1,200 miles away, Dr. Bender made a life-saving decision for us and we had our beloved Chance for another three years.
I was caught of guard by how nice they were, and was not expecting a completely unfair and disrespectful charge.
